Golf Swing Tips

To improve your golf game, it’s vital that you take golf lessons. Golf is a sport that is almost impossible to learn without some sort of guidance. Luckily, there are golf experts around the country whose job it is to teach golf. By taking golf lessons, you can drastically improve your game in a relatively short amount of time. Taking golf lessons can be an expensive, time-consuming effort. And like any good or service that will cost money and require time, you should be careful before you buy.  Golf can be a really costly game to play and it is reasonable to assume that you have invested a fair amount of money in your equipment – golf clubs, golf bag, golf balls, golf clothing, golf cart etc; – therefore doesn’t it make common sense for you to learn how to use them to their advantage and improve your skills and capabilities?

Dave Pelz’s Putting Bible – golf’s least understood skill.

Green-Reading the 15th Building Block 147 defined break (as measured at the hole distance instead of perpendicular to the ball-hole line).

Is it any wonder that of all the putts missed by amateur golfers 80 to 90 percent miss below the hole? Even Tour pros miss 70 to 80 percent of their misses on the low side. Obviously you would expect that if golfers under-read the break they should miss their putts below the hole. But that isn’t quite the whole story.

7.3 The Subconscious Knows Better

While golfers don’t recognize the true amount of a putt’s break in their conscious minds their subconscious minds do better. 1-low do I know? After asking these 1 500 golfers how much break they were playing I asked them to putt at the same holes. But before they hit any balls I measured where they were aiming their bodies putters and strokes. Again I was amazed at the results.

While they told me they were playing break values that were less than a third of the real value they were aiming to play breaks much closer to between 65 and 75 percent of the true break values. So if the true break was 40 inches they said they were putting at a spot 12 inches above the hole then actually aimed at a spot between 25 and 30 inches above.

Possibly the most incredible aspect of all this was that not one of the golfers was aware of doing this. They didn’t realize they actually were playing far more break than they thought they were or would admit to playing. Test this yourself: Stand on a putting green with your friends and ask one of them how much break he is allowing for; then watch as he tells you one thing but does something completely different. You don’t need any sophisticated equipment to see it.

Lag putters (golfers who always seem to be lagging their putts) usually leave more than half of their putts short which is not good when you are trying to hole the maximum percentage of makable putts (those inside 30 feet). But to be a good lag putter from outside 35 feet is one of putting’s

As you can see in the image to the left, the back remains straight while bending over to the ball. All of the bending is done at the hips. Bending at the waist and keeping a straight back will promote great ball flight and consistency. The relationship between the arms and chest has not changed.
